Hey Fiends, I’m back with some more scoop on the brand-new film “The Witches” which not only is a more in tune with the book by Roald Dahl, but also arrives on your preferred method of enjoying film and television just before Halloween. How cool is that? I discussed the trailer HERE if you missed it and now to move it along, please review the poster, premise and casting. Sure I will close out with some editorial as is my standard operating procedure.
The Premise: Set in 1960s Alabama, an orphaned young boy stumbles across a conference of witches, while staying with his grandmother at a hotel, and gets transformed into a mouse by the Grand High Witch.
Jahzir Kadeem Bruno as The Boy
Chris Rock as the Narrator
Anne Hathaway as The Grand High Witch
Octavia Spencer as The Grandmother
Stanley Tucci as Mr. Stringer
Codie-Lei Eastick as Bruno Jenkins
Kristin Chenoweth as a Mouse
Charles Edwards as Mr. Jenkins
Morgana Robinson as Mrs. Jenkins
Eugenia Caruso as Consuella
Simon Manyonda as Sous-Chef
Amber Flanagan as Esmeralda
Piercing Ken Thoughts: When I last checked, I still had access to HBO Max since I think my existing HBO subscription includes it. With that being said, I am not yet sure that I will be siting down to enjoy this one despite it looking very charming. If time permits I will sit and relax and let the world around me be one where “The Witches” are in full sway. I am glad that this isn’t surfacing with a premium access price like we found Disney+ doing since I think if you already subscribe to something there shouldn’t be an upper tier out of the blue. What do you readers think? Will you be watching this one? Were you a fan of the original film or the novel from which it originates from? Chime in down below in the comments section and I will see you again soon as the countdown to Halloween 2020 continues.
