“Obsessed: Radiohead” by Lena Hall

I’m continuing my examination of the series of cover EP’s by Tony Award winning musician Lena Hall with her latest offering of “Obsessed: Radiohead”, an album that finds the sonic vocalist offering up homage to the legendary Alternative Rock band by giving us her take on a handful of their numbers. My own relationship with the band Radiohead came very early in the bands debut as a newly signed band to a label I knew some people at way back when and upon inquiring what this one was all about, I was told “we think the song CREEP will be a big hit”. It was of course, and the band went on to their own levels of stratospheric popularity. Sorry, I just had to add that one into the mix but back to the latest tunes from Miss Hall.

“Nude” (Single) by Lena Hall

Artist: “Nude” (Single)
Title: Lena Hall
Label: Ghostlight Records
Release Date: 6/1/2018
Genre: Rock

I’ve been keeping as good a pace with singer Lena Hall as she continues to deliver EP’s under her “Obsessed” series and if you haven’t seen our thoughts on what’s come before you can just click HERE to be brought up to speed. “Nude” is the first single of Hall’s latest “Obsession” which focuses on the band Radiohead and while I plan on doing a longer overview when its released, felt it would be fun to do some Single Reviews here on “The Chronicles” as well. As a music fan I was only listening to Radiohead up until the “OK Computer” album so by the time they released “In Rainbows” where this song comes from, I was long gone. According to my research, it was the bands second single from this release and a very big hit.

Incendiary Doings @ NYC Hot Sauce Expo 2018: Part 1

It seems like only yesterday that we were heading over to Williamsburg for the 1st Annual NYC Hot Sauce Expo which was a brand-new event started by our friends over at High River Sauces. That was six years ago and while the first couple of events were discussed on my PiercingMetal.com website, I’ve been keeping them here as a part of the Lifestyle vibe that you get with “The Chronicles” for the last few years.

With this being the sixth such expo for me, I will admit that its gotten a little tricky in how to deliver the fun to your device of choice so I am just going to walk around and see what I see and snap what I snap.  The links at the bottom will take you to a number of vendors and their wares.  Let’s go.

Release Date: 2/2/2018

Rating: 4.5/5

Last month offered up an overview of a brand-new musical EP series by Tony Award winning singer Lena Hall with her “Obsessed: Hedwig and the Angry Inch”. It was the first in her series of “Obsessed” released which pretty much amount to artists or material that she herself is obsessed with. I loved the idea and as a fan of Hall’s for a number of years was glad to support this effort. Folks who missed that summary can click HERE to check it out. While I was relatively new to those songs, her latest EP focuses on the legendary Peter Gabriel, an artist that I am much more familiar with so let’s discuss “Obsessed: Peter Gabriel”.

Lena Hall is a Tony Award winning performer whose vocal register packs one hell of a punch. Recently, the singer announced a series of EP’s that will allow her to celebrate some of her favorite artists and music that she loves under the banner of “Obsessed”. According to what I’ve read, Hall plans on releasing these works during the first week of every month over the course of the year and the first one has just been released with “Obsessed: Hedwig and the Angry Inch”. For those who might not know this, Hall starred in the Broadway production of the film with Neil Patrick Harris (Hedwig) playing his paramore Yitzhak. When the show went on the road, Lena played both parts which is pretty damned awesome. The five songs on this EP are the creation of John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask and since I didn’t manage to see the play at all come off as completely new music to my ears.
