On Wednesday 3 June at 6:00pm, Pierre Lescure and Thierry Frémaux have announced the line-up of the 73rd edition of the Festival de Cannes, live from the UGC Normandie in Paris. For the occasion, Thierry Frémaux, the Festival’s General Delegate, has unveiled the 2020’s Official Selection, comprising fifty-six films to be accompanied by the Festival for their release in cinemas and screenings at certain festivals. As you have likely surmised by now, most of the upcoming movies have either been postponed for a later date or will be made available on special streaming services on demand. The upcoming Disney film “Artemis Fowl” was supposed to come out in theaters but instead it will make its debut on their exclusive streaming service Disney+. My reveal of the Official Trailer can be found HERE for those who missed it and now it’s time to share what is listed as a “Special Look”. Remember that this film is based on a series of Young Reader novels and is directed by Kenneth Branagh. Let’s watch.

The other day we helped share the news about the Tribeca and YouTube collaboration of the “We Are One: A Global Film Festival” (discussed HERE). Now its time to share the announcement about the winners for the Jury Competition and Art Awards.
The Press Release:
The Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, announced the winners for the 2020 juried competition, awarding top honors from this year’s program. Tribeca has continued its commitment to celebrating storytellers while the 19th edition, previously set to take place April 15-26, 2020 in New York City, is being rescheduled.
The Half of It was honored with The Founders Award for Best U.S. Narrative Feature; The Hater for Best International Narrative Feature; and Socks On Fire for Best Documentary Feature. Shorts awards went to No More Wings for Best Narrative Short; My Father The Mover for Best Documentary Short; Friends for Best Animated Short and Cru-Raw for the Student Visionary Award. The Nora Ephron Award went to director Ruthy Pribar for her feature, Asia. The award was created seven years ago to honor excellence in storytelling by a female writer or director who embodies the spirit and boldness of the late filmmaker. The full list of films and filmmakers honored are highlighted below.
