BroadwayCon 2020 Adds “Jagged Little Pill” & “Mrs. Doubtfire” To Show Lineup

For the last few weeks I’ve been sharing the broadcasts from the folks curating the BroadwayCon and if this is new news to you just click HERE to see what’s come before. Now it’s onto their latest news as this fun-filled event draws closer. Check it out.

BroadwayCon welcomes new musicals Jagged Little Pill and Mrs. Doubtfire to the 2020 MainStage Spotlight Session lineup. Attendees will be treated to an exclusive look behind the curtain at the creation of Jagged Little Pill on Sunday, January 26, at 12:30 p.m. with cast members Antonio Cipriano (Phoenix), Kathryn Gallagher (Bella), Celia Rose Gooding (Frankie Healy), Derek Klena (Nick Healy), Sean Allan Krill (Steve Healy), Lauren Patten (Jo), and Elizabeth Stanley (Mary Jane Healy), moderated by Jerry Portwood, Rolling Stone Digital Director.

The Mrs. Doubtfire Mainstage Spotlight will take place on Saturday, January 25, at 3 p.m, featuring Jerry Zaks (Director), Lorin Latarro (Choreographer), Rob McClure (Daniel Hillard), Jenn Gambatese (Miranda Hillard), and more, moderated by Gordon Cox, Variety theatre critic and host of the “Stagecraft” podcast. Both shows will also perform select numbers for BroadwayCon attendees on Friday, January 24 during the BroadwayCon 2020 First Look, an exclusive showcase of performances from the newest and most talked-about shows of the season.

BroadwayCon 2020 Adds “Harry Potter and The Cursed Child” To Mainstage Spotlight

Next weekend, the 2020 BroadwayCon will take over the New York Hilton Midtown hotel and I’ve had a number of announcements come through my email to share with you. The Tony Award®?-winning play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has joined the Broadway 2020 lineup for an exclusive MainStage Spotlight Session on Saturday, January 25, 2020. The panel will feature James Snyder (Harry Potter), Jenny Jules (Hermione Granger), Matt Mueller (Ron Weasley), Jonno Roberts (Draco Malfoy), Diane Davis (Ginny Potter), Nicholas Podany (Albus Potter), Bubba Weiler (Scorpius Malfoy), and Nadia Brown (Rose Granger-Weasley) in conversation with moderator Melissa Anelli, CEO of Mischief Management and Co-Founder of BroadwayCon. Following the Spotlight Session, BroadwayCon will also host an attendee-led meetup for fans of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Event attendees will also be able to see select pieces from Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’s creation, including the set model, in the BroadwayCon Museum, open all weekend.

BroadwayCon Adds “Hadestown Cast To 2020 Event

While we are just about a week away from this year’s BroadwayCon, I wanted to keep the readership up to date on some of the coolness that will be happening. Take a look at this latest news announcement.

The Tony Award®?-winning Best Musical Hadestown has joined the Broadway 2020 lineup for an exclusive MainStage Spotlight Session on Sunday, January 26, 2020. The panel will feature cast members Reeve Carney (Orpheus), Eva Noblezada (Eurydice), Jewelle Blackman, Yvette Gonzales-Nacer, and Kay Trinidad (The Fates) as they discuss what it’s like to bring the hit show to life, moderated by Jamie DuMont, Rob Russo, and Jennifer Simard of Broadway podcast, “The Fabulous Invalid.” Tickets are on sale now at BroadwayCon.com/register.

Blackman, Gonzales-Nacer, and Trinidad will also perform select numbers from Hadestown on Friday, January 24 during the BroadwayCon 2020 First Look, an exclusive showcase of performances from the newest and most talked-about shows of the season.

Since 2016, BroadwayCon has been the premiere fan convention for all things Broadway. Highlights from previous years include show spotlights with the casts of Hamilton (2016, 2017), Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (2019), Mean Girls (2019), and Dear Evan Hansen (2017), reunions with the original casts of RENT (2016), and In The Heights (2018), performances by Sara Barielles (2016, Waitress), Jenn Colella (2016, Come From Away), Christy Altomare (2017, Anastasia), and appearances by Tina Fey (2019), Lin-Manuel Miranda (2017) and Kristin Chenoweth (2019), and much more.

Announcing The 92nd Academy Awards Nominees

Actor-producer John Cho and producer-actress-writer Issa Rae announced the 92nd Oscars® nominations today (January 13), live from the David Geffen Theater at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, opening later this year, via a global live stream on Oscar.com, Oscars.org, the Academy’s digital platforms, an international satellite feed and broadcast media.

Cho and Rae announced the nominees in 8 categories at 5:18 a.m. PT, and the remaining 16 categories at 5:30 a.m. PT. For a complete list of nominees, visit the official Oscars website, www.oscar.com.
Academy members from each of the 17 branches vote to determine the nominees in their respective categories – actors nominate actors, film editors nominate film editors, etc. In the Animated Feature Film and International Feature Film categories, nominees are selected by a vote of multi-branch screening committees. All voting members are eligible to select the Best Picture nominees.

Active members of the Academy are eligible to vote for the winners in all 24 categories beginning Thursday, January 30, through Tuesday, February 4.

Hey my friends, so as you might have heard me mention recently, I had pitched our interest in attending the upcoming BroadwayCon for “The Chronicles” and having just been given clearance, I am getting more and more announcements about the event (others can be examined by clicking HERE). I’d love to see a number of you there so let’s examine this latest news about a sure to be interesting panel

Jordan Fisher and Andrew Barth Feldman, stars of the Tony® Award-winning Dear Evan Hansen, join the BroadwayCon 2020 lineup for an exclusive panel moderated by People’s Dave Quinn for attendees about playing the iconic role of Evan Hansen on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 10 a.m. Tickets are on sale now at BroadwayCon.com/register.

After making his Broadway debut as Evan in January 2019, Feldman will take his final bow in the hit show on January 26 and Fisher (Hamilton, “RENT Live,” “Grease Live!”) begins performances in the title role on Tuesday, January 28, 2020.
