Well how about that my friends, it appears as though we’ve once again arrived at the time where the Instagram “Top Nine” images are tabulated and that means you get to enjoy them as well. Over the course of 2018, I really was enjoying the use of Instagram as a social networking tool and I’m fairly certain that I used it a lot more than any of the other socials combined. The rundown will come after the image below so please take a gander. I figured that I’d offer up some background on them all.

About These Visuals: Starting from the top left hand corner we’ve got my favorite girl Spooke the Black Cat and she actually made the Top Nice twice this year. The first one is from a vet visit for a quick check up and the other was just her chilling out on my office chair that she likes. There are two photos of me with the first one being from the Style Fashion Week step and repeat area while the other when I was dressed all Southern casual while visiting my family down South. The second row also features two images from the NY Empire State Tattoo Expo which I was honored to wander as a member of the lifestyle media. The extremely lovely ladies pictured from each in a left to right fashion are Ryan Ashley, Nikki Simpson (from an Inked tattoo reality program) and burlesque goddesses LuLu D’Vil, Bon Bon Cherry and Frankie Fictitious. Whew, such talent. The last row are two visuals from BroadwayCon which I attended for the very first time and loved it. Last but not least is a steaming plate of Polish food that my mother made when I was visiting down South. It was so danged good that I had seconds and you know what else was good? Our year in Instagram because I had a blast uploading and sharing all of these and so many more adventures with those who happen by. According to their tally, the account recieved 11.3K likes for the sum total of our 2,860 posted images. I believe we’ve grown by about 60 followers over the year to 681. Let’s see how much closer I can get to 1K on this account over the course of the soon to arrive 2019 year.

Social Net Scuttlebutt: Google+ Will Shut Down In April 2019

google+ logo

Users of the Google+ Social Networking tool will have to figure out another option next April because the search engine giant Google is shutting this service down completely at some point during that month. Google discussed the issue on their Official Blog only a couple of days ago and while it had become knowledge that the service would end in August, they have moved the timeline up by four months and come April it all goes away. As opposed to para-phrasing the lengthy blog post, those who wish to see what the scoop is can click HERE to read it.

I’ve been using Google+ since the service first launched in 2011 for both of my websites and if you are so inclined you can click either logo to be brought to the account which I will then ask you to subscribe to while you can. My plan is to load up the feed and eventually direct you to alternatives that I will be using for each of the websites. Obviously the PiercingMetal.com one focuses on the Heavy Music and the Pop Culture offerings on the main website and its related social networks.

The Piercing Ken one caters to the Lifestyle Branded items found on this website. Dedicated readers to this side of the creative fence know full well how busy its become over the last few years and there is no sign of that stopping if I have my say about it.

Over the years of using this as a means to share content with whomever chose to follow our profiles, it felt that it was a great way to “feed” the website posts and some of our other social networking doings with people who found it interesting. Truth be told, I rarely engaged anyone and barely built up a following that showed the love by clicking the circle that showed we had them in our corner. The profiles for each proper Official Google+ had several hundred followers but the Official Brand Pages didn’t. I made sure people saw the posts by letting them go live on the Branded Page and then sharing them down to the profile account. Sure the traffic to the server logs was consistent but it was even harder to get fans to lock it in via this tool than it was to get the same in Facebook. My plans are to keep using it until the cutoff date because it is feeding our content out to the web on a regular basis. With so much writing happening on PiercingMetal.com and here on “The Chronicles” I want to take advantage of it for as long as I can. I think that Google should have ramped up their security protocols to protect this and kept the “Buzz” service they had (discussed long ago HERE). Had they connected the two and expanded their Hangouts medium as a messenger they would really have dominated the social networks and you wouldn’t have needed much else. The termination of Google+ leaves us only Facebook as a medium and at this point in my life, I am only really using Facebook to administer my website Official Pages. Both sites use Twitter but only PiercingMetal.com has a Tumblr account in addition to the Google+; Tumblr recently announced the cleansing of all adult themed content so it might be a good idea to create an account there and follow us that way. More about the cleanup can be found HERE.

At the point of this writing there are over 50 million users of the Google+ service and while the data breach is serious business, it would have been nice to find them stemming off any issues but they didn’t and soon it will go away. Some of you users might want to completely delete your content account before the shutdown and don’t worry this will not mess up your actual Google account like Gmail.com and YouTube etc. This will only erase the Google+ stuff. I’ll close up now but suggest to those who wish to keep up with us to hit out “About Pages” to find our other social mediums and I mean right here on “The Chronicles” and PiercingMetal.com – Since we are already here I’ll add links for you down below as well. Let’s hope for the best and that something new and exciting will come along. See you next time.

PiercingMetal Went To Wintercon 2018 @ Resorts World Casino

Hey my friends, while the holidays quickly head in our general direction I wanted to take a moment and share one of the fun posts that we did over on PiercingMetal.com – As you know, I’ve got a lot of love for the convention circuit and while I’ve already shared that we attended the 2018 New York Comic Con, its time to send you over to examine our final convention of the year. I’m talking about none other than the WinterCon which takes place in the Resorts World Casino out in Jamaica Queens. You can examine that coverage by clicking HERE. Doing so will launch a brand new tab in your browser.

I had a fun time seeing some old friends at this convention and making a few new ones as well but when it all was said and done I was not really feeling well and that prevented a return. I would end up getting my behind kicked by some kind of quick flu which amazed me since I always get the flu shot. I know, I know, its never 100% effective but that is that. I am better now so don’t worry too much. Generally I prevent the means to comment here about the convention since its a redirect to the PiercingMetal website but since the audience for “The Chronicles” has grown by leaps and bounds I am leaving it open. I figured some of you might have questions about the convention that I can answer here easily. I will ask that if you did attend and feel like commenting that you save that for the actual article on my other website. See you readers again soon.
