30 Rooms: The Art Of Adam Carnes

A few months ago I was invited to an art presentation that was called “30 Rooms” and this was being held in an office building on what appeared to be an open floor for the Regus Business Center company. Organized and sponsored by Six Summit Gallery, the event would present thirty different artists in thirty different rooms. While I did not manage to see every single room, I did get to a bunch that I really enjoyed and shall be presenting each of those artists in their own posting to allow for better focused attention. Here is Adam Carnes:

“Persistence Of Vision” In Transit (9/20/2013)

If you ride the Q train and are heading into Manhattan when it makes its way over the Manhattan Bridge, you might want to look out the windows through the grit and grime and see the artwork that comes to life right outside of your vantage point with “Peristence Of Vision”. It’s a multi-panel piece of work that when the train rumbles by gives the appearance of movement. It’s pretty cool and I’ve wanted to capture it for this blog for awhile now. Especially since I have so many friends from other countries that I like to point out interesting things to.

For the video I used the trusty Panasonic Lumix and think it came out alright for my needs. I did miss a half second but for this posting what I ended up with serves my purposes just fine. I should tell you that I had tried to capture this a few times already but it was ruined on several attempts by the train stopping or going slower than usual. Hopefully if you try to go and see this particular art installation in NYC’s underground that the train is smooth and timely. You’ll need to be on the DeKalb station in Brooklyn by the way. Enjoy.

UPDATE 12/8/2013: I was on the fence about appending this post but my reason for doing so was based on my shooting this piece of art once more a few months after that first time. I figured why do a new post that was about the same thing. For this go at it I used my Droid RAZR Maxx mobile device to capture the work and I have embedded that clip below for your enjoyment.

I didn’t catch what the names of any of Seth’s works were called or what the premise of this particular showing was about so you will just have to enjoy the photos and dig deeper into his official website which I will provide at the close of this post.

I Am….A New Yorker :)

Did that title get your attention? Good, I had hoped that it would even with the slight flair of drama. So what am I on about this time, well, when I was heading out from the recent NY Comic Con 2013 down at the Javits Center I glimpsed up and saw this visual.

I might not have said it in this blog yet, but the Empire State Building is one of those sights that I think I can look at on a daily basis from any number of vantage points and never get tired of it. It’s been decades since I have even been in the building but I digress. I felt the connection of the building and the neon New Yorker sign worked out quite well. I hope you like it.

That said, I also shot one in the daylight and while nice did not have the same pride impact upon me. I guess I am strange.

I’ve been securing a lot of similar things from around the city these last few months so I will be striving to add them to the blog for you all to appreciate and share with your friends if the need came upon you. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.
