The Press Release:
Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, located at the historic site of the 1969 Woodstock festival, today announced that the nonprofit cultural organization, together with a talented collection of Broadway stars, Emmy and Tony winners, and songwriters proudly presents Broadway Boosts Bethel on October 22nd at 7:00 PM.

Hosted by Tony Award-winner BD Wong (M.Butterfly, Father of the Bride, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), this special fundraising video combines Broadway talent with the Center’s historic legacy, featuring artists performing songs from the Sixties of their choosing. Throughout the program, the performers will share the impact the arts have had on their own lives. The line-up includes Mauricio Martinez (On Your Feet!); Carrie Manolakos (Mamma Mia!); Anthony CeFala (Mamma Mia!); Jelani Remy (Ain’t Too Proud to Beg); Laurie Wells and Don Noble (Mamma Mia!); Paul Loesel (Wicked); Chuck Ragsdale (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder); Angela Jamieson (The Lion King); and The Heartstrings Project.

“Because the Pavilion Stage was dark this past summer, we are committed now more than ever to what we are calling Share The Music, Again,” said Eric Frances, CEO, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. “This idea of restoring song and once again being a place for people to gather and enjoy the arts serves as an anchor to our year-end fundraising efforts,” he continued.

Broadway Boosts Bethel will be available for 72 hours on the Center’s website beginning October 22nd at 7:00 PM. Though it will be free to watch, a donation of $10 is suggested. All proceeds will support the Center’s commitment to presenting creative and meaningful experiences for our audiences. As a thank you for contributing, one lucky donor will receive an exclusive camping opportunity on the historic grounds of the 1969 Woodstock festival.

The video will air two days prior to the close of the Center’s annual Silent Auction. Though typically held in conjunction with the annual Wine Pairing Dinner in the Event Gallery, this year’s auction will run October 6th – 24th. Participation gives guests access to one-of-a-kind items and exclusive experiences virtually. Auction items include a guitar signed by Richie Havens, Joe Cocker, Cindy Lauper, Maroon 5, and many other past Bethel Woods performers.

Pre-registration for the auction is now open and can be done through the Center’s website: BethelWoodsCenter.org/SilentAuction. For more information on Broadway Boosts Bethel, please visit BethelWoodsCenter.org/Broadway.

Piercing Ken Thoughts: Though I’ve only ever been up that way once before, I am glad to see that they are rallying to generate the necessary support because so much of this is needed across the board at the moment. The pandemic has crippled the entertainment industry and I cannot even fathom when I will be walking the floor of a convention, shouting at a band at the top of my lungs or eating some far too fattening popcorn during a motion picture again. I know a lot of you are in the same boat of uncertainty as I am but hey that is the lay of the land right now. Should I be around and not working I will be tuning into this broadcast since it sounds like a lot of fun. What do you think about it? Chime in down below in the comments section.
