Believe me that is a lot of stuff to talk about when it comes down to it. I hope you enjoy what we are delivering because there is so much to share as a resident of this bustling metropolis.

Appetizing Explorations @ Summer Fancy Food Show 2017 (Part 3)

Hey there my fine foodie friends!!! It’s nice to see you again as I continue along with the explorations of the 2017 Summer Fancy Food Show. This event has been so much fun and I am not just saying that. It’s also been rather filling and I am certainly going to need to get on a better regimen of exercise once its over – it is summer after all. If you haven’t seen any of the previous narratives please click THIS LINK as it will open a run of what has gone online already. Now let’s get to some eating.

This treat was completely new to me. Mochi. Its a small ice cream treat and if I had the chance I would have eaten about eleven of them. No joke.

I know that I mentioned my love of cheese in an earlier post but let me add to that the cured meats appreciation.  Salami, Sopressata, Chorizo…..YUM.

The Film Forum Brings New York City In The 70’s To The Big Screen

The folks at the Film Forum are setting up a NYC centric film festival with a few dozen films that were done right here on our at one time mean city streets. There are quite a few classics to filter through and this will begin next week on July 5th so get your plans in order and get the tickets that you want before anything sells out. Some have numerous showings across the festival while others seem to have only one. Commence your indulgence into the full press release and please be aware that based on the amount of films being presented I will NOT be listing these individually on our calendar.

The Press Release:
“FORD TO CITY: DROP DEAD – NEW YORK IN THE 70s,” a 23-day, 44-film series spotlighting movies made in and about the city during the 1970s, will run at Film Forum from Wednesday, July 5 through Thursday, July 27.

The title of the series is taken from the classic Daily News headline – the most famous in the paper’s history. On October 29, 1975, President Gerald Ford declared that a near-bankrupt New York City would be denied federal aid. The following day, the News’ front page carried the banner headline (written by managing editor Bill Brink) “FORD TO CITY: DROP DEAD.” It became one of the most iconic images of the decade and helped seal Ford’s fate for a 1976 presidential run. (Only last week, the News revived the headline after the current administration’s withdrawal from the Paris Accord: “TRUMP TO WORLD: DROP DEAD.”)

New York City in the 1970s was perceived as a place of danger, decay, and paranoia, where people “didn’t get involved” (especially following high-profile crimes like the 1964 murder of Kitty Genovese). The disastrous decade was marked by the financial crisis of 1975 and the 25-hour mid-summer blackout of 1977, the spread of crack and heroin, and the ubiquity of violent crimes (1,814 homicides in 1980, compared to 335 in 2016).

Appetizing Explorations @ Summer Fancy Food Show 2017 (Part 2)

Well hello again my friends and welcome back to my explorations of the Summer Fancy Food Show. I feel as though I am just getting started on this adventure based on all the photos that I’ve secured and its been a lot of fun so far. If you’d like to start following this one from the beginning please just click THIS LINK as it will open a run of what has gone online already.

I guess I can pick up where I left off in the last chapter, and that is with the folks at Funny Farm.  They had a number of different kinds of cheese items and even made a small pizza for folks to sample.  It was tasty.

Appetizing Explorations @ Summer Fancy Food Show 2017 (Part 1)

It’s no secret to the readers of my PiercingMetal.com website that we love hitting the conventions that make sense to that side of the creative fence. For the past eight years or so we’ve been in attendance as media for stuff like the NY Comic Con, The American International Toy Fair and more. With “The Chronicles Of Piercing Ken” growing wider in readership and reach each and every month, it made sense to also use it as a journalistic voice and with that said we proudly add the Summer Fancy Food Show to our list of conventions to explore.

This year’s event will be my very first go-round to the show and as a proud “Foodie” I could hardly wait. I’m one of those folks who not only loves to use networks like Yelp! but also Foodspotting.com where I can line out specific dishes that my friends and followers might enjoy. I will link to my profiles on them at the close so you can follow us and hopefully learn some things too.  Now its onto the convention but first we need to check in and get our press credentials.

Everyone in the Press Room was super helpful and it reminded me of the amazing resources we find at the Toy Fair.
