It’s Been Nine Years Of Tweets; My Twitter Anniversary (2009-2018)

Hello my friends and social networking mavens of the readership; I am here to share the news with you all that today is my 9th Anniversary as a user of Twitter.  Please try to hold back all the excitement about this occasion for the time being as I reflect upon my first use of the medium.

The medium was slowly becoming all the rage among a group of friends and in the onset I was unsure on how I would even use it.  My first account was the PiercingMetal one and it was initially aimed at all activity that I was involved in for the music review website. Back in 2009 that is all that I was doing in terms of writing.  I felt that it was “okay at best” while those aforementioned friends were mavens for it.    Below is my very first tweet which as you can see is not really aimed at my music site.

A few short months after using the “PiercingMetal” account I would create a second account and use the ID “PiercingKen”. It was aimed at being my personal one and for connection with the other online networks that I was using like Foursquare, Yelp and maybe even my personal Facebook.  The funny thing about using “Piercing Ken” as an ID for this account was that the blog that bears its name was not even on my mind as a thing to do.  That would arrive the following May in 2010.   I am amused that the first tweet for that account actually would have been better served on the music account but oh well.  This might have been an accident at the time but I don’t remember.


first tweet piercingmetal, first tweet, piercingmetal twitterAccording to my many of my more ardent user friends, I still don’t use Twitter properly.  I’ve tweeted with PK over 3K times and with PM over 5K times so I’ve been using it.  I’ve promised to use the service a lot more than I have been doing and I have.  I guess my doing it wrong means I am not talking to people in it as much as I am sharing posts on the two websites and yeah I admit that is a shortcoming of mine when it comes to this service.   Here’s to Year #10 for usage which is I guess the next time that I will bring this up.  If you do enjoy what either website is up to, then I encourage you to follow the respective Twitter account so you get the links when they go live.  We always post to our Facebook’s Official Pages but they keep changing the dynamic on small businesses so no one sees the content.   By the way, clicking either tweet up above will bring you to the account to follow which makes that easier to do.  Alright, that is all I have on this topic and now its back to other items.  Until we meet again my friends, keep on tweeting…

Happy 10th Anniversary To Twitter

I’m not one to generally celebrate the 10th Anniversary of a Social Network but I have been enjoying the use of Twitter on both of my websites for some time now and with today being their special milestone I said why the heck not. I decided to make my toast a bit more connected to my mediums as I was able to find out exactly what my first tweet was for each of my website accounts. I’ve shared them with you along with some thoughts about each of below so check it all out after the tweet.

Before I begin I should state that I was not the earliest adopter to Twitter and didn’t have accounts until 2009. This account was created second and began being used in June and I’ll start off with the PiercingKen account since we are raising the glass on that website. What amuses me about its first tweet is the fact that it relates more to the PiercingMetal outlet than this one. I was a frequent user of the Foursquare app on my mobile device and would periodically “Check In” to places on that service. For some reason I connected the PiercingKen Twitter to the service because it was always dealing with food and drink stuff more so than “Being Metal” and when I was hitting a concert venue I would do the same sort of checking in. It made no sense to have a different ID in Foursquare (which is now called Swarm) so I left it alone. The PiercingKen Swarm, Twitter and Facebook page are more aimed at Lifestyle and some of that includes my music themed website. As you read this there are about 2,884 tweets but only a couple of hundred followers. Most of my tweets are sent there via other mediums like Instagram, Foodspotting and Yelp. I could be better at it but there is only so much time in the day.

PiercingKen Is Now On Twitter: Live, Love, Follow…..

Even though you might be a leader in this world it’s thanks to the likes of Twitter that you can all also be Followers as well. That being said, I decided to mirror some of my practices done for PiercingMetal with the PiercingKen blog and create a Twitter account for it. I hope you will click the image below and become one of my ardent Followers because I would love to have you along for this part of the ride. So far I have connected a couple of things to it so you should see the blog postings a little faster than having to remember to come all the way over here 🙂 I’ve been using Foursquare for awhile and if you enjoy what that site services then you can see what we do over there as well.

As you might have realized based on the date stamp of the above “First Tweet”, I’ve been using the network for about a year now. The “PiercingKen” branding actually predates the launch of this here blog. It’s funny to be doing this because I will be the first to admit that I didn’t even like Twitter in the beginning. Now I am seeing how to use it a lot more and a lot better so why not use it for this particular blog as well. It can’t hurt at the end of the day. Alright my friends that is all I have for you in this post. Please get back to your tasks and we shall see you soon for sure. We do hope that you will “Follow” us and even “Retweet” the items that interest you most and help us grow.
