Celebrating “Godzilla” Today :)

Logo - Godzilla

So today the newest movie featuring the mighty Godzilla arrived in theaters and to celebrate this fact I felt like sharing some images of the great kaiju that I own still in my collections. There was much more of this kind of thing many years ago but of course toys and models break and well, there we are. So the first Godzilla is a 6″ plastic figure with moveable arms, legs and a portion of his tail. I did a little research and found out that it came out in 1985 by Imperial Hong Kong Toho.

You might not recognize this next one and honestly you are lucky if that’s the case since this is the presentation of the Big G that we got in the 1998 “Godzilla” film. As you can see they changed him too damned much and he looked like an upright walking iguana. I saw the film and while I didn’t like it, I was able to snag this figure super cheap in a discount bin at KB Toys. Nothing wrong with that.

Last up is probably the piece de resistance for me as its the oldest item in the collection and hearkens back to the days of The Shogun Warriors? Remember them? No? Click HERE for background. Anyway, this figure is 24″ inches in height and dates back to 1977. You cannot tell by this photo but if you depress the lever on his neck a flame comes out and his right hand shoots off like a rocket. This came very handy when I was pitting him against the smaller action figures in my collections.

I really wish I had one of my classic Aurora Godzilla models still. I know for a fact that I went through no less than five of them since I was very young and we didn’t have a proper Godzilla figure yet. Oh well. No sense crying over split milk, err broken plastic. Information about the new film and a bunch of related items to sweeten the collection can be found via this link so check it out by clicking HERE.
