Presenting My Swarm 2017 “Year In Review”

As 2017 steamrolls faster and faster towards its close, I was alerted to the news that my “Year In Review” for 2017 was available on Swarm. This is the application that I use for Check In’s at the vast and varied locations that I go to during the course of the given day. Since I love sharing this kind of stuff on The Chronicles let’s see what they tallied up for me based on my use of the app.

Hmm. “518” check-ins is a lot lower than my 2016 tally of “622” but in my defense, I didn’t always remember to open the app and there were some places that I couldn’t make it work no matter how hard I tried. Those efforts were the most annoying and helped make my statistics lower. Bah.

I had to chuckle about gaining the Mayorship of the area Comic Book Store but then again I am there every week to see what is coming out or to see what I’d like to add to my own personal stockpile. With the PiercingMetal site talking about comics so much these last few years it makes sense to keep on supporting our local retailer.  My other Mayorhip is not listed but was the Gramercy Theatre concert venue.  I do go to a lot of shows, but this one stood out as being the most frequented during 2017.

As you can see the Comic Shops show as one of the Top Five places and categories.  There were more Music Venues than were tallied but I already mentioned my losing some entries for one reason or another.

My buddy The Master Gio seems to have secured the app BFF award again and of my circle of friends I think he and I use it the most and go to a lot of the same things so that is going to happen.  It did make me chuckle for sure.  Did you know that friends can check you in as well if they know you are someplace that they are?  I like that since it lets me not worry about it at all and still get the check in.

I always enjoy checking out a new spot, and especially if one is good.  Such was the case on many of them because it would be so much easier to leave a useful Yelp than to crap on a place for the slightest offense.

Piercing Ken Thoughts: Most of my friends simply check in to places using Facebook but I don’t choose to go that route. I prefer having the option of letting Facebook or Twitter know where I am if I feel like it. Using Swarm to check in let’s me accrue imaginary coins and compete in a friendly fashion with the friends I have who are also using the app. I will not add anyone to my profile who I do not know in real life and neither should you. I’ve linked the main account for the apps below for you to use and encourage you to try them out but to keep it close to the vest. The days of adding everyone you meet just to do it should be something that you move away from in 2018. My profiles on Yelp and Foodspotting are open to the public so those who are interested can follow me or like and submit comments on the items that are posted. I hope more of you will opt to use apps like this since they do bear some positive fruit to establishments and dining fare. Just use a logical head when forming your opinion on stuff. Until next time.
