Merry Christmas 2013 My Friends

“It’s my most wonderful blog, of the year…..fa la la la la la, la la la la…..” I realize that I have mixed up two entirely different Christmas songs but yes my dear readers, it is that time of the year that I bring to your attention for hopeful visual entertainment, a myriad of Christmastime images that I had encountered during the weeks little up to Christmas Day.  Let’s start out at my own abode, the headquarters of the PiercingKen Blog 🙂

Santa here was not actually in front of my building but nearby enough so I included him since it was such a great painting.

Isn’t this cute?

I need to try and come back when this is lit up since I bet it looks awesome.

A local popular eaterie has done a nice job.  They are called PANEANTICO and that is where I shot the photo of the Santa that you saw a few images ago.

It had just snowed when I snapped these shots and I just loved the vibe in the trees being lightly touched by snow.

Even the local Burger King is getting into the holiday spirit.  Oh yes and I will take two “Big Kings” please 🙂

Saw this on Fulton Street when I was coming home from a concert with friends.  Had to share it with you all.  Such wonderful colors.

Later that night I went back to those trees you just saw and tried to get a nice shot.  The light was not on my side.  This will have to do.

Many of these decorations in the coming photos were taken while shopping for sundries at either Rite Aid or Duane Reade.  There were so many cool ones, I had to admit that I wanted a lot of them for the house.

Yeah these were too cute for words but since I still need the KISS “Hello Kitty” Beanies I will hold off on these ones.  They sure do a nice job on this stuff.

I admit that this was tempting, but I really didn’t think that I would get away with it with either of my cats.

christmas_122513_17

I imagine the end result is to look something like this.  However…..

christmas_122513_18

I think most of me would look like this if I tried it……

christmas_122513_19

I’m as “Go Home Team” as the next guy but these didn’t strike me as anything more than cheesy.

christmas_122513_20

Let’s head into the city now shall we…..

christmas_122513_22

A very nice house that I passed by.  This year I didn’t get to go to the super giant displays.  Perhaps a post Christmas focus can be done if time allows.

This smaller tree really caught my eye.  It reminded me of one that I snapped a couple of years ago that I still need to make into a print.

These cool sleighs were in front of one of the area hotels on Sixth Avenue.

The Nutcracker stands guard.

christmas_122513_29

“Chestnuts roasting on an open cart, tourists stepping on your toes……” I’m pretty sure the song doesn’t go like that but as I shot this I realized that I have not yet ever had these.   Have you?  Are they good?

And now the grand moment, the 2013 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.  Isn’t it magnificent?  I tell you that it always blows me away even if there are scores of people around me trying to get the same view.

After I did that touristy thing I wandered down Fifth Avenue to see the setup over in Bryant Park.  They had a series of Winter Shops just like we see in Union Square Park and there is really something for everyone there.  What do you think of their tree?  I took a few shots of it to showcase it proper.

Let’s head down to Wall Street now because they always have a wonderful tree set up right outside of the Stock Exchange.

Next let’s wander over to Southstreet Seaport.  You know they recently closed down Pier 17 so the area is rather barren but there are a small grouping of shops and what looked to be a very nice tree as well.

christmas_122513_44

It really was a nice tree upon a closer glance and I even paused my own snapping to do some for the passerby who asked me to get them.

One of the buildings I passed had these two Nutcrackers that resembled the opposing sides of the Revolutionary War.

Just before the holidays I visited a local establishment called “The Wicked Monk” for some dinner and they have these foreboding looking statues around the place. Seeing one in a Santa hat made my day.

christmas_122513_61

We’re getting down to the wire here and I figured that I would leave you one last image and this is my own modest little Christmas setup in the apartment. Yes I hung up some other things that were given to me by my Grandmother in addition to this tree which was a present from another Grandma but I didn’t think you wanted a tour of the creative HQ.

christmas_122513_62

That’s all I have for you this year my friends.  Merry Christmas to you and yours if you are celebrating it and it this is not your holiday, know that we are still wishing you and all the loved ones in your life a very amazing winter season 🙂 See you soon.
