Welcome back to another group of visuals from the 2016 Toy Fair. With this installment I am putting two find companies together and shall showcase both the Safari Ltd. stuff with that of the Tonner Doll Company. Let’s take a look at Safari Ltd. first.
I’ve really enjoyed the items that we find at the Safari Ltd. area when we begin exploring their stuff. You’ve probably seen a lot of these fine plastic animals for sale at museum gift shops when you make your way out of an exhibit. Here are some of the popular creations that have been given a remastering treatment since their original debut.
There are also some newer creatures and these are residents of the ocean and could probably be fun in the bathtub as well.
The Great White Shark isn’t new at all but I just like him a lot. I do wish the teeth looked sharper though and he could be a tad bigger but its a fine sculpt otherwise for sure.
I’m really fond of their mythical beasts and characters and was debating building a collection of these for myself. The dragons and mythological creations are just too awesome to not want to have for yourself. If I can clear some space on the desk that order form is being filled out.
These next group of photos show what the fans have done with their figurines. The company showcases them on Pinterest which is pretty cool considering how much that social network is used. Let these inspire your own creativity and hit the company website to see how you can participate in that for the next time.
These are just a couple of the display racks in their pavilion. I shot them for good measure.
And a couple of the larger display shelves to easily peruse the new and now on sale product line.
One of the other items I like most is the minis. There are a ton of them and for all different types of stuff. They have NYC landmarks, historic items, planets, dinosaurs and much more. They come in these handy tubes which serve as storage and safe-keeping as well as a means to carry the products with you. They are reasonably priced and make good gifts. I have to get a few of them myself.
It was a pleasure to see the reps from Safari Ltd. who remembered Peter and I from previous Toy Fairs. They give the press peeps a little goodie bag of minis and a tote and there is even a small section set aside to enjoy a cup of coffee while discussing the latest line when they are not dealing with the buyers. Thanks again Safari Ltd. and we shall surely see you next year. Now its time to take a look at the Tonner Doll Company items.
The Tonner Doll Company makes some truly high-end collectible dolls and as you can tell from the first photo below, they are suitable best for display as opposed to consistent and rough play. These dolls are representative of the DC Comics Bombshells comic book series. I’ve been reading that title for a few months and love the designs. Let’s get a closer look at Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn and Batgirl in the next few photos.
The dolls above have a pretty heavy price point based on the design and what is put into the figure. Like I said, more for display so if you are a fan of any or all of these characters then take a look into them. These next two dolls have a reasonable price though and stand at 18″ high. Let’s get a closer look at this Wonder Woman and Supergirl.
I love “The Big Bang Theory” and here is America’s favorite nerd couple – Dr. Sheldon Cooper and Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler. You can call them “Shamy” if you like, but remember that they don’t like that particular nickname. Maybe a future set will find Tonner doing a Leonard and Penny doll.
Here’s Cleopatra and her Pharoah. Way in the background you might be able to see the “Gone With The Wind” dolls. Some of the stuff that Tonner had on display for the Toy Fair was not able to be photographed due to licenses still being worked out or our seeing the not final prototype of the character. Their website will have the latest and greatest products to be ordered in time for the holidays so don’t fret.
That brings me to the end of this Toy Fair installment and I am running out of the things to share with you over on this website.
