In addition to my now yearly Christmas in NYC presentations with the trees and the decorations that I see around, I stopped by the famous Sak’s Fifth Avenue Department store. They now have a whole big light display on the facade of the building on the side that overlooks Fifth Avenue. Its quite awesome and drivers might want to avoid this avenue during this time of the year to keep on moving. It’s such a pleasant offering that it is getting its own post when I manage to snare the complete show.
In case you are curious, I shot this video with the Panasonic Lumix. Yeah I am still using a real camera out there instead of solely using the mobile device. I dunno, for some things I prefer the camera to the phone. Maybe in a future year. Only time will tell. Just a quick posting to wish all of our friends, family and readers around the wherever a very Happy Fourth Of July which is being celebrated in today in the USA for those of you who are hitting our site from other parts of the world. I like making it a practice here on the blog to showcase topical visuals that I had seen and that being said here is some cool Independence Day pride that was observed on the windows of a bar called J.J. Bubbles in my Bay Ridge neighborhood.
This next image was found while doing one of my daily lengthy neighborhood walks and seen on the 92nd Street Overpass. Finding this was a case of perfect timing.
I didn’t see all that many out of the ordinary presentations this year so please be okay with these simple few. I hope you all have an enjoyable day with whomever you are spending it with and of course please be careful around those fireworks.
Today was the annual Bay Ridge Memorial Day Parade, and this 146th edition of the parade has been going on in Bay Ridge for the past 21 years. The motto for this year would be “Lest We Forget” and its important that we never let this be the case to all our brave men and women who fought so hard and made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The parade would start on 87th Street and 3rd Avenue (my parents old block actually) and travel up to Marine Avenue heading to Fourth Avenue where it will end at Cannonball Park. It’s actually John Paul Jones Park but everyone calls it that.
The parade began with a little bit of Rolling Thunder. I snagged it on video using the ever trusty Panasonic Lumix. This time around it would be the only video that was captured as I figured I did not need to get the pipe and drum corps this time around like I did on St. Patrick’s Day.
I’ll toss some comments in now and then during the presentation but will mostly be letting you enjoy the parade as it passes by in order to let you feel like you are there watching it along with me. Enjoy.
