PiercingKen Goes On The Big Egg Hunt: Chapter Four

As I’ve said three times already, during the weeks leading up to Easter, the folks at Faberge set up a “Big Egg Hunt” all around the city and these works of art were not only fantastic to look at, but thanks to a downloadable app and a QR code, the folks in our fair Metropolis could scan the egg upon discovery and mark it as collected in their account. If they were the first to find an egg there would be prizes as well and that is pretty cool right? The exhibit ran all around the city from April 1st – 17th.

On April 18th, all of the eggs were gathered up and set up as a massive outdoor display in Rockefeller Center and since I was not able to hunt down any of the eggs in their original location figured that it would make a fun blog post for you to enjoy here on the Piercing Ken site. The way I did this was to shoot a photograph of each egg, and I apologize for not getting their names or the designer. This is the fourth and final chapter of my series that focused on this exhibit. Enjoy.

Perhaps if I find some deeper background on them I can append as necessary. Here we go.

Exploring The “Canstructions” Of Brookfield Place

I was heading to the city for a show this evening with my stalwart media companion Skeleton Pete Parrella and since there was time to do some other stuff we headed down to Brookfield Place in Battery Park City to check out a charitable art installation known as “CANSTRUCTION”. The premise of the organization is below the logo to bring you up to speed. Check it out.

Logo - Canstruction

“Canstruction® is a unique, trademarked charity which hosts competitions, exhibitions and events showcasing colossal structures made out of full cans of food. After the structures are built, the cansculptures® go on display to the public as a giant art exhibition. At the end of the event, all food is donated to local hunger relief organizations. Recognized for our commitment to innovation, hunger relief and collaboration, our work has helped raise nearly 40 million pounds of food since 1992. Canstruction® events are hosted in over 150 cities around the world including North America, Australia, South America, Europe and Asia.”

I’m not going to talk too much during this one and instead will let you enjoy my findings. I tried to get the sign to describe each sculpture so that should help you along. Off you go now. There’s things to be seeing 🙂
